The popular franchise mode returns with an option to track college athletes using the NFL Draft Scouting System and College All-Star Game. Revised mouse controls incorporate the console's 'highlight stick' feature, offering new jukes, cutbacks, and signature-style moves for the game's top rushing stars, including cover athlete and MVP Shaun Alexander. For the first time in the series, players can take control of the lead blocker and create holes in the defensive line for the tailback to run through. In addition to the yearly tweaks to the graphics engine and sound, Madden NFL 07's primary area of focus is the running game.

'Madden NFL 07' is still a lot of fun and something every football fan will want to own. Sure, there might be one or two new tackle animations, but on the whole, it's nothing to get excited about.Д«ut don't let the lack of new visuals discourage you from checking it out. Don't get us wrong, the game still looks impressive (especially the 360 version), but you would think the developers would give players some new moves or animations.

All of the player models, the stadiums, the crowds - it all looks like '06' - which is disappointing.

It's kind of a new way to play a football game - from that one position - but it gives the players a unique perspective on the game and all that goes with being a pro player.ДЄlthough the game plays great with its new features, nothing has really changed in terms of visuals from last year's title. You pick a position - whether it's quarterback, lineman or receiver - and then play only that position for your entire career.

So when that linebacker is about to tackle you, use the highlight stick to execute a wicked juke or quick 180-degree turn to avoid the hit.ДЇor players who want to live the full NFL lifestyle, the game has brought back NFL superstar mode this time around allowing players to play all the way to the hall of fame.

While running with the ball, players use the right analog stick to pull off cool moves to gain extra yardage. Trust us, nothing is more satisfying than running for 30-plus yards as the result of a key block you just threw.ДЄnother key addition to the running game is the highlight stick. You can take control of any other player that might be blocking on a play, such as tight ends and fullbacks. Then with a push of a button, you regain control of the tailback and run through the hole you just created! And it's not limited to linemen. Once the ball is snapped, players execute the perfect block to open up a running lane. How does it work? After you select a running play, you then switch to a lineman before the snap. It's nice to see the running game getting some props this year. Historically, the series has always concentrated on the passing game (with its precision passing, playmaker controls and the quarterback vision). New for 2007 is the lead blocker control, which is by far the coolest feature of this year's game. With a host of new features, upgrades and, of course, the signature 'Madden' gameplay, '07' is looking to be the best version yet. In its 17th installment, 'Madden NFL 07' comes in full force for all major platforms.
